Telegram should launch its cryptocurrency GRAM by the end of october 2019.
According to documents a New York Times reporter would have had access to, Telegram would have set the deadline of 31 October, 2019 for the launch of its cryptocurrency.
The cryptocurrency of Telegram should be called GRAM.
Telegram had raised nearly 1.7 billion dollars during its ICO!
Users will apparently be able to store GRAM cryptocurrency in a Crypto wallet Gram, a crypto wallet that Telegram plans to offer to more than 200 million users worldwide, according to three anonymous investors who have spoken.
By launching its cryptocurrency before Libra, the Facebook cryptocurrency, Telegram intends to get ahead of its competitor in messaging application.
Telegram is owned by a Russian businessman Pavel Durov.
The idea is to allow users of Telegram to pay for services or for e-commerce via the GRAM token as intends to do Facebook with Libra.
Telegram, however, has only 200 million users.
So it is a race that is engaged between messaging applications to launch their cryptocurrency as soon as possible.
