Coinbase plans to list GRAM, the Telegram messaging app token
Coinbase plans to list GRAM, the Telegram messaging app token.
In a statement on the Coinbase blog, the company has published a list of tokens it would consider listing on its crypto exchange.
The first surprise is that there are a lot of rather unknown crypto tokens like:
Avalanche, Celo, Chia, Coda, Dfinity, Filecoin, Handshake, Kadena, Mobilecoin, NEAR, Nervos,
Oasis, Orchid, Polkadot, Solana, Spacemesh.
On the other hand, in the list we find the GRAM token from Telegram.
GRAM will be an important coin in the crypto space and plans to compete with the Facebook cryptocurrency Libra.
Telegram raised $1.7 billion in ICO for this GRAM token!
Coinbase who also posted on Twitter his list of tokens.

17 new crypto tokens that could be added to Coinbase in the future.
Coinbase said this in particular:
“Over time, we expect our customers worldwide to have access, through Coinbase platforms, to at least 90% of the total market capitalization of all outstanding digital assets.”
The most interesting of course is the Telegram token, GRAM, which stands out in this announcement that has surprised many people when there may be other more well-known or advanced projects on the crypto market than most of the coins listed in this news.
Coinbase must also deal with American regulations and can not accept some tokens that you will find on Binance for example.
This may explain the list of little known tokens but Coinbase can list them without having any worries with the SEC or US regulators.
Coinbase is therefore looking for the most interesting tokens, with greater capitalization but especially by complying with the laws in force in the United States.
The listing of the Telegram token makes sense if it is legally possible for Coinbase because Telegram already has a large user base.
Telegram plans to integrate the Gram wallet inside the messaging application of the same name to fully reach its own audience which now has 300 million users worldwide.
Such a large audience could generate significant revenue opportunities for a crypto exchange like Coinbase.
The GRAM token is not read yet, however, given the importance of the project, Coinbase is moving forward by announcing its intention to list this token as soon as it is available.
GRAM is expected in October 2019 may be according to the statements of some people aware of the progress of the Telegram project.
Coinbase does not mention the Facebook token, Libra, and for a good reason, its launch would be in 2020 and only if Facebook passes the barriers of regulators in many countries who fear the arrival of Libra in their country as a threat to their national currency!
France has declared that it does not want Libra on European soil.
