The adoption of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is accelerating, media coverage of Tesla’s investments in BTC, and PayPal, which integrated cryptocurrency trading, is causing other companies to think about paying in crypto for their services.
In an interview on CNBC, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said it could integrate bitcoin and cryptocurrency payment if there is indeed a need and real demand for it.
“Just as we accept all kinds of local currencies, we will be looking at cryptocurrency and/or Bitcoin in terms of the currency to be traded.
It’s good for business, it’s good for our drivers and our eaters.
And if there’s a benefit, if there’s a need, we’ll do it, we’re just not going to do it as a promotion.”

The CEO of Uber specifies that this digital payment option would therefore be integrated if there is indeed a request from its customers, it would not be a simple advertising operation in order to ride the media wave of Bitcoin.
The fact that Tesla has invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin is leading the media to question all major corporations about whether to integrate payment in BTC or invest in cryptocurrency.
On this point, the CEO of Uber was clear, there is no question for the company to buy Bitcoin, Uber does not want to invest in highly speculative assets and prefers to keep its money in safe investments or simply in cash.
“It was a conversation that took place, that was quickly dismissed. We will keep our money safe. We are not in the business of speculation.”
