The Stellar Lumens Blockchain does not seem to be as decentralized as we thought!

Recently, the Stellar blockchain stopped confirming transactions for more than an hour and was disconnected.
And although the process did not lose money, it showed that the network was not as decentralized as previously thought…

Stellar is designed as a decentralized network of peer-to-peer validation nodes using Stellar Core software to confirm transactions.
Stellar Cryptocurrency (XLM) is the ninth largest market capitalization cryptocurrency.

To achieve a global consensus with other nodes, Stellar Core executes the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP).
This, instead of using a complete network to validate a transaction as Bitcoin does, is based on what are called quorum segments: sets of nodes with which each validation node accepts.

Together, all the quorum segments that make up the validation nodes form a global network in which the vote is used to ensure a consensus on the transactions recorded in the general ledger.

Regarding the reason the network was disconnected, his development team said it was because “the new nodes were assuming too many responsibilities by consensus too soon”.
Thus, the interruption appears to be directly related to previous statements that the Stellar network is too centralized.

And precisely, in an attempt to decentralize the network, new nodes were added very quickly, which eventually generated the accident.
Specifically, a Keybase node, a start string, has been disconnected for maintenance reasons.
At that time, it was reported that other nodes were “unstable or fallen”.

However, the network development team noted that “as a fundamental design choice, Stellar prefers coherence and partition resistance over the course of life”. “It’s different from other block chains, in which” the chain must continue “even at the price of soft forks,” they added.
