We have seen the CoronaCoin, the token for the Coronavirus/Covid19 crisis.
Here is the George Floyd Token (FLYD).
The project says: “The Floyd token is the first secure way to finance empowerment against injustice.”
We can now expect to see a token created for each event that will be in the news or shock society as a whole.
The death of George Floyd, who was killed by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota, led to demonstrations, riots and looting in many cities in the United States.
A wave of anger led by the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, in response to the murder of this black American man, suffocated by the knee of policeman Derek Chauvin who blocked George Floyd’s neck and prevented him from breathing.
In an amateur video, the victim is heard to repeat “I can’t Breath” several times.
Derek Chauvin and the three other police officers involved in the death of George Floyd (Thomas Lane, J Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao) are now in prison and charged with murder and complicity of murder.
Some people have therefore created a cryptocurrency in memory of George Floyd, the George Floyd Token (FLYD).
We don’t know who it is, the first impression that comes to mind is of course that of people who intend to make money with the death of George Floyd who has gone around the world.
The creators of the George Floyd Token have also created a site, georgefloyd.io, on which they indicate that part of the funds will be donated to the family of George Floyd and to the Black Lives Matter movement.
No white paper for the George Floyd token but a vision paper which indicates that the aim is to ensure that the name of George Floyd “will live forever” via decentralized platforms.
“Why FLOYD? FLOYD makes it easy for our users to send value using Ethereum. Our goal is to help protesters and activists accept more than one payment stream if they need help. But of course, the use cases will be available to everyone, including essential workers, nurses and small businesses looking to diversify their payment options.
We plan to integrate the Ethereum system which allows easy access to those who wish to send victims and protesters like cryptocurrencies such as FLYD or Ethereum or any other token on the Ethereum network quickly and easily. Why limit yourself to a single source of payment when the world offers us multiple sources via decentralized networks?
With FLOYD, all your transactions can be secure and private, and part of all revenues will support the cause of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter. ”
The FLYD token is an Ethereum ERC-20 token, by looking at its contract address on Etherscan, we learn in particular that there are 612 million George Floyd tokens and hundreds FLYD addresses.
There are currently token airdrops planned but nothing else specific on this project, which seems rather opportunistic than anything else, even if it indicates that it intends to donate funds to the family of George Floyd .
The contact form does not work, the links of the Terms Conditions and Privacy Policy pages do not exist.
There is also a Twitter account that has been created.

It is unknown who is behind this token and the statements of these people are only theirs, with no guarantees thereafter.
Each important event often brings numerous scams and calls for donations which turn out to be organized by scammers.
We expected the creation of a George Floyd Token, it is done.
Bitcoin also made a brief appearance in protests for George Floyd in the United States.
