A Nigerian returns $80,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) received by mistake!

This is the story of a young Nigerian, Keith Mali Chung, who discovered on his Bitcoin wallet that he received $80,000 in Bitcoins by mistake.

As soon as Keith discovered on his account the sum of 7.8 BTC, about 80 000 USD, he started looking for the owner of these crypto-currencies.
After 3 days without finding the owner of the Bitcoins, he posted a message on his Twitter account to try to find the unknown sender.

Bitcoin Keith (The African Bitcoin Bull) as he calls himself on his Twitter account.

The young African Keith Mali Chung said:

“I knew it had to be a mistake, so I posted a message to certain WhatsApp groups to locate him.”

Mali Chung is passionate about cryptocurrency, he gives free workshops in Nigeria about the potential of Bitcoin and other digital currencies.

“People are particularly interested in international transfers to avoid bank fees (…)
People in the diaspora use it to send money home and people here also transfer Bitcoins to relatives abroad.”

This gesture on the part of the young African is a beautiful lesson of honesty because the young Nigerian, Keith Mali Chung, could simply have kept the Bitcoins for him because, as you know, a Bitcoin transaction is not reversible!
Once you’ve sent Bitcoins to a BTC address, you can not get them back.

So be careful before sending Bitcoins or cryptocurrency to someone because if you send them to a wrong address, they are lost forever in principle.
Except in the present case where this honest young Nigerian looked for and found the person who sent him $80,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) by mistake.
Otherwise, those $ 80,000 in Bitcoin were lost forever for the sender who made a mistake in the address of the lucky recipient of the $80,000 in cryptocurrency.

This event also drew attention on Africa and Nigeria about the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency on this continent and in various African countries where digital money transfers are growing rapidly.
Even though Burundi has recently banned Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in this country because of the large number of crypto scams.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has not yet regulated cryptocurrency transactions.

As in many other countries, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are something new for the people and governments in Africa who must debate in order to decide the future of new alternative currencies in their reciprocal countries.

And you, would you have kept the $80,000 in Bitcoin (BTC)?
